Hello friends! I hope you are having a fabulous start to the week. I thought I’d take a small break from all the flowers and do a couple of critter cards. I love love love these Playful Puppies from Pretty Pink Posh. I am a dog lover. I have a beagle whose name is Casper because as a pup he was notorious like Casper the ghost! So, when I saw this stamp set I knew I had to get it right away because it is irresistable.
I did some off the edge die cutting (taught by the famous and talented Jennifer Mcguire. You can watch the video for this technique here.) I started by taking a Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock slightly smaller than A2 sized card. I placed the mailbox and the pup who is trying to put mail into the box on the card and drew a straight line to decide the point till which I want to die cut. I wanted to place more pups on the die cutting line but I messed up the stamping so I covered it up with layers and dimensions.
After partially diecutting, I stamped the mail box and the pup using Memento Tuxedo black ink pad and also stamped rest of the images onto an extra piece of Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock for copic coloring using my stash of copic markers. The copic color combos I used for the images are:
Bird: R20, R22, R24 and R29
Dalmation Pup: C00, T2, T4, T6, T8 and C0 and C2 for shadows on the skin.
Beagle and Basset Pup: E30, E31, E33, E35 and E37
Mailbox: C00, T2, T4, T6 and T8; E33, E35 and E37; R22, R24 and R29
Mails: R20, R22 and R24; YG03, YG07, and YG17; V01, V12 and V15; Y17, YR04 and YR07; B21, B00 and B000; Y15, Y13 and Y11
Food Bowl: R22, R24 and R29; E33, E35, and E37
Grass: YG01, YG03, YG17 and YG63
R20 for blush.
After die cutting and coloring I assembled the scene and colored some grass as base for the dogs to sit on. I attached the bird to an acetate strip and stuck it on the back so that it appears she is flying.
The on the panel below the dogs, I repeatedly stamped heart and bone images from the same stamp set using Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink. I stamped the sentiment You Make Life Fun, which is from the Simple Sayings Life stamp set, using the Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it using Clear Embossing Powder from Simon Says Stamp. I adhered the panel onto a top folding fog card base which was sized 5.5 inches by 3.80 inches.
That’s all for this card. Did you notice I colored the mail envelopes in rainbow color? I am trying to incorporate more of rainbows on my cards going forward!
Let me know what you think of this card. I would really love to get feedback from you all! Now the giveaway:
