Hello Friends! Hope everyone is having a great day!
Please join me in this week’s challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge .
Bright and Cheerful
We are showcasing Hero Arts products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.
As always, Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 gift Vouches for the Simon Says Stamp Store to one randomly selected winner!
With these two cards, I kept imagining florals on kraft background. So both cards turned out similar even though they were made a week or two apart. For the first card, I used You’re So Lovely stamp set. I started by taking a 5.3 inches by 5.3 inches sized panel of cold pressed watercolor pad and stamping the florals onto it using my distress markers.
Every time I stamped, I barely damped the paper so that I don’t get any harsh lines, and I used my watercolor brush to add a bit more water to the images so that the ink flows around and creates a more loose effect as opposed to crisp stamping. I splattered some ink mixed with water as well as my gansai tambi starry watercolors on it as well to add some interest.
I took a card base of size 5.5 inches by 5.5 inches made from Neenah Desert Storm 100 lb cardstock. I trimmed the top panel using Stitched Scalloped Border dies from Lawn Fawn and also trimmed my watercolor panel so that it fits the top of the card. Using a small heart die, I die cut two holes in the right portion of the card and tied a twine to give it some rustic feel.
One the inside of the card base, that was visible from the front, I stamped the sentiments from the same stamp set, using versamark watermark ink pad. I added some gold and peach sequins to the card to give it a complete look! That’s all for this card.
For the second card, I used a stamp set which is discontinued ( I found out this when I had already made the card but I decided to share the card technique and not keep the card as a major highlight!) but you can use this technique and card design with any solid florals images, for instance the Simon Says Stamp Bold Blooms stamp set will work with this technique flawlessly. I started by stamping the images from the Hero Arts Lia Griffith Garden Flowers stamp set onto some Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80 lb cardstock.
I used the two tone stamping technique to add some gradient to the stamped images. I stamped the image first in light color and came back in with darker corners and lighter inner part.
I die cut the stamped panel using Simon Says Large Tags wafer die and added a twine on top. For the base, I trimmed Neenah Desert Storm cardstock using Wonky Rectangles die from Simon Says Stamp and ran it through my die cutting machine with the machine set to embossing using the Hero Arts Glorious Petal Stencil.
I placed the tag and the dry embossed panel on an A2 sized 4.25 inch by 5.5 inch card base and added the sentiment which is from the You’re So Lovely stamp set, stamped onto a piece of cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink, on top. I added some sequins to finish off the card.
That’s all for these two cards.
So now it’s YOUR turn. Happy Crafting!
You have until Wed 8 a.m. Ohio time, 1 p.m. UK time and 2 p.m. CET to join in.
